"Broadchurch" showrunner Chris Chibnall is said to be the new producer of the time-traveling TV series replacing Steven Moffat. In an interview with The Telegraph, the former said that they will pick the next Doctor with the usual penchant, put up a good script and look for the right actor to do it.

Chibnall added that the creative prospects are vast within the show and went on saying that it is already clear to them on what will they do next with the show. They do not have the slightest idea just yet though on who will fill in on Capaldi's shoes.

In an interview with Jo Whiley in a BBC Radio 2 show, Capaldi stated that leaving the show makes him feel down as he depicted the production as a family. He added that it is his first time sticking on a single job for three years and went on saying that it is high time for him to venture to something else.

As of late, there are several names that have popped up as to who will play the next Doctor. Surprisingly, "Doctor Strange" star Tilda Swinton is favored by viewers to portray the iconic role that has been dominated by male actors for over half a century. In fact, the odds of her landing the role is currently 7/2, according to the betting site Ladbrokes.

Other notable mentions include Kris Marshall, Olivia Coleman, Maxine Peake, and Ben Whishaw who is known for his role as Q in "Skyfall" and the voice of "Paddington" in the movie of the same name. Series/Season 10 of "Doctor Who" will premiere this April 15 on BBC.
