Jang Hyunseung was no longer a member of Beast since April 2016 but remains under Cube as a soloist. Highlight is reportedly preparing to release a new music.

The quintet Beast left Cube at the end of 2016. They cannot use their former name as it would be illegal, according to Yonhap News. Their new name signifies their potential to stand out and be exceptional. It is likewise based on the title of their most recent album "Highlight" with the five members Yong Junhyung, Lee Kikwang, Son Dongwoon, Yoon Doojoon and Yang Yoseob under Cube.

"Highlight" is the first album the group released without Jang. It has Beast's standard that was not ground breaking but with on point vocals and mature theme. The quintet appeared calmer than their group's previous releases.

Jang reportedly took some of the band's urban and electronic influences but his absence was not felt. "Highlight" had the boys leaving their old style behind to explore a new territory.

The former sextet Beast was known as an underdog since its debut in 2009 as its members were passed over by other bands. For instance, Jang did not make it to YG Entertainment's popular boy band BIGBANG.

Beast grew to become one of Korea's most popular acts with their energetic dance moves and sentimental ballads. Many of their albums scored well on the World Albums chart. "Highlight" charted at No. 9 while 2013's "Shadow" and 2012's "Beautiful Night" were at Best of K-pop lists, according to Billboard. Their "Good Luck" topped the list in 2015.

Highlight members thanked fans via social media for their continued support. They reminisced the past and expressed their anticipation of the future. The group's songwriter Yong had the most lighthearted social media posts which message is that Highlight will work hard.
