Dr. Priscilla Chan, the Chinese wife of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, is pregnant again with another baby girl. The couple announced her second pregnancy on Zuckerberg’s Facebook account on Thursday, March 9.
Max’s New Sibling
Their first daughter, Max, was born in 2015, but because it was a difficult pregnancy, the couple were not sure if they would have another child. Besides hoping baby number 2 would be healthy, Priscilla wrote that she hoped her next baby would be a girl again. Max celebrated her first birthday in November, Fortune reported.
She explained, “I cannot think of a greater gift than having a sister and I'm so happy Max and our new child will have each other.” Included in the Facebook post is a photo of Priscilla when she was a child with her sister. She recalled growing up with three sisters who taught her a lot about life and her best friends as well which is an experience she wants Max to have too.
Her sisters, who write books, are excellent in sports, music, performance, cooking and their profession, taught her to compete and laugh together afterwards. They also taught Priscilla the importance of family, caring for one another and hard work. As siblings, they share a lot of inside jokes only they understand.
Strong Women
The couple wrote, “We are all better people because of the strong women in our lives -- sisters, mothers and friends. We can't wait to welcome our new little one and do our best to raise another strong woman.”
The Facebook post is viral with more than 365,000 likes. One comment came from Mark’s sister Randi who wrote, “What a beautiful post! We are thrilled for you and so glad that more strong, smart, kind women will be in the world!! (glad you didn't mention how we also occasionally made your life miserable growing up! #truesisterjob) My boys love their cousin Max and can't wait to meet their new cousin!”
