The chemistry of Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia on the small screen has been validated. The "This Is Us" Season 1 finale, which focused mainly on their respective characters Rebecca Pearson and Jack Pearson, ended with a bang on March 12, Tuesday.

Everything will have been done exactly as they set out to do by the time they get to the end of "This Is Us" Season 1, Fogelman told Variety. The series creator revealed that very few details changed from his initial plan.

"This Is Us" Season 2 is going to play out much the same way, Fogelman said. One of the biggest challenges he expects is being able to continue doing that without the audience ever becoming frustrated.

The "This Is Us" Season 1 finale delved further into the past to when Jack and Rebecca first met. That night, they were both scheduled to go on blind dates but their respective existential crisis got in the way and brought them to the same bar instead and the rest is history.

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Ventimiglia and Moore were asked if it was ironic that Jack was not able to support Rebecca all these years later considering that he met her while he was singing. Ventimiglia said it was a little ironic while Moore found it surprising.

On the other hand, Ventimiglia pointed out that Jack is a guy who leads with his heart and he does not always think things through. The actor said his character has come to understand a certain version of his life and his marriage.

Jack and Rebecca are a human couple and just like anyone else, they are going to have their struggles and viewers are now seeing the absolute toughest moments that they are faced with, Ventimiglia said. The actor added that "This Is Us" teaches viewers that there is light in a dark room that needs to be taken in.

What Moore loves about "This Is Us" is that forces viewers to hold a mirror up to their own lives and the choices that they have made and it really pushes that nostalgia button in a way. For her, it was the perfect note to end Season 1 on as it gives viewers much time to think.

To comfort the viewers, Moore reminded them that Rebecca wears still wears the moon necklace. The actress suggested that this "has to mean something."

For fans who want to know what they should expect from "This Is Us" Season 2, Ventimiglia jokingly advised them to watch some repeats of happier times. He himself hopes that with the ticking clock of Jack's death, viewers will see him and Rebecca come together.
