In the last few months, some of the rescues done by Chinese firefighters were too funny and embarrassing that it went viral. One such recent case was when a Suqian City man sought their help in freeing his private part caught in a steel penis trap.
On Saturday, firefighters in Zhejiang Province had a blaze to douse and women at the residential apartment’s sixth floor to rescue. It was the kind of heroic mission that firefighters are known for, more than freeing trapped genitals of adventurous men.
Grasped by the Legs
The Star Online reported that video footage of the fire in Jiaxing showed a woman on the sixth floor of the building dangling out of a window. A fireman on the fifth floor could be seen on the video that became viral, grasping the woman’s legs. Another fireman helped pull the woman into the room below.
After a few minutes, another woman is seen climbing out of the same sixth floor window. To secure her, the firefighters tried to tie ropes to her legs but before they could do that she fell out of the window. But the firefighters nevertheless caught her legs and brought her to safety.
Electric Blanket Causes Fire
According to a 29-year-old woman from the burning unit on the sixth floor, the fire began from an electric blanket that overheated. Her father, who was sleeping on the couch, was using the electric blanket. She and her mother were sleeping in another room.
The father, who also climbed out of the window, and she were rescued by the firefighters and were unharmed. But her 51-year-old mother suffered from burns on her right hand and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Jiang Tiancai, one of the 43 firefighters from nine fire engines that responded to the blaze, admitted the experience of catching the woman by her legs just in time after she fell was scary. Had he failed, the firefighter said he would find it difficult to sleep in the future.
Wei Tingbao, the other fireman, recalled the woman stood on the window for a very long time until she could no longer hold on anymore. After they linked the hook to her, he tightly held on to the woman’s leg while Wei asked the policemen on his back to grab him for support. After the woman fell, he pulled her into the fifth floor, Asia One reported.
