Fans of late actor Paul Walker were driven to tears during the world premiere of the actor's posthumous picture "Furious 7." The movie was screened at SXSW Film Festival on early hours of Monday morning.
The movie was a surprise addition to the film festival. Its screening was announced on Sunday afternoon. Soon after the official announcement, Walker's fans started lining up to catch their dear star's last movie.
Walker died in a tragic car crash in November 2013. The movie was in the middle of its production and has to be stalled temporarily to work out how the rest of the movie could be completed without one of its lead actors.
Thanks to the contribution from late actor's brothers, Caleb and Cody, the movie was completed, along with some digital tweaking, shadowy lighting and carefully chosen camera angles, New York Daily News reported. The late actor's character remained a major presence in the film, much to the relief of the actor's fans.
Before the movie began, the producer of the "Fast and Furious" series invited some of the creative team onstage - including the film's director James Wan, screenwriter Chris Morgan and actor Tyrese Gibson.
"We obviously lost a dear friend, brother, comrade when we were making this movie," said producer Neal H. Moritz at the premiere, Huffington Post reported. "He was really the best guy I ever met in my world -- in my life. When we decided we were going to continue this movie, we were determined to honor his legacy and our love for him forever."
Throughout the movie, fans could be heard cheering "We love you Paul," whenever the actor appeared on screen. But the high point of the movie came in the scene where the late actor Walker and co-star Vin Diesel appeared to drive out of the famous Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai and into another adjacent tower.
The movie closes with an onscreen dedication, "For Paul." It is set to hit the theatres on April 3.
