The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is requesting all Republican lawmakers, who have benefited from Representative Aaron Schock, to donate everything that they have received from him in the spirit of goodwill.
"Aaron Schock made a name for himself jet-setting around the country raising dollars for Republicans -- some of that at taxpayer expense," DCCC Communications director Matt Thornton said.
"If his soon-to-be-former colleagues in the House are truly as concerned with wasteful spending in Washington as they claim to be, then they will donate Schock's money to the Treasury," Thornton added.
The DCCC specifically mentioned 12 new lawmakers, who have received donations from Schock namely Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N. Y.), Rep. David Young (R-Iowa), Rep. Bruce Poliquin (R-Maine), Rep. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), Rep. Thomas MacArthur (R-N. J.), Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.), Rep. Frank Guinta (R-N. H.), Rep. Bob Dold (R-Ill.), Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.), Rep. Ryan Costello (R-Pa.), Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA.) and Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.).
These representatives have not released comments yet.
Through his leadership campaigns, Rep. Schock was able to donate approximately $750, 000 to some Republican colleagues sine 2008. The DCCC has also claimed that Schock has given the National Republican Congressional Committee, the Illinois Republican Party, Republican National Committee, and other "fruitless" bids of some other Representatives a total amount of $980,787, all in all.
On March 17, Tuesday, Schock announced that he did file his resignation paper in Congress come the last week of March, following investigation of all of his questionable utilization of the campaign and congressional funds, the Hufftington Post reported.
The investigation of Schock's "lavish" spending came out through a report about his extravagant Downtown Abbey-style office makeover by the Washington Post.
