The arduous waiting period for the release of Windows 10 might be cut short as Microsoft recently announced that it will ship its newest operating system sometime in the coming summer.
Microsoft chief of operating system Terry Myerson released a statement saying, "We continue to make great development progress and shared today that Windows 10 will be available this summer."
Myerson also added that the new operating system will be available in 111 languages and will be released in 190 countries.
Microsoft confirmed earlier that the Windows 10 will be a free upgrade to all table and PC that are currently running in the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating system. Windows phone running in the 8.1 OS will also receive the update for free as well as the Xbox One console, according to Bidness Etc.
Microsoft shocked the tech community by skipping Windows 9 in its series of operating system. The company's reason is to avoid the jinx that has plagued the Windows 8.
In addition to this, the summer release of the new operating system also comes in as a surprise since Microsoft previously has the habit of rolling out the Windows operating system during the fall season.
Aside from giving out the free Windows update to all legitimate users, Microsoft is also extending its arm to pirated copies of its operating system, according to The Verge.
Myerson said that the Microsoft 10 update will also be offered to all non-genuine copy of Windows. This move is also a step away from the previous practices of the company to fight software piracy, these practices involves the use of activation keys which was first introduced in Windows XP.
Microsoft has yet to confirm the official release date of its operating system.
