The film will star Kaya Scoldelario as Teresa, Dylan O'Brien as Thomas, Ki Hong Lee as Minho, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Rosa Salazar, who played Lynn in "Insurgent", will play the role of Brenda in the "Maze Runner" sequel.

Actress Salazar feels proud and happy for starring in the recently released "Insurgent" of the "Divergent" Series as well as having a significant role in the upcoming "The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials" this year.

"I'm very proud of it, just as much as I'm proud of "Insurgent." It's really hard to favor one experience over the other. I'm really lucky. I won the raffle," she said.

Salazar also gave an overview on what to expect in "Scorch Trials" in MTV. She said that the survivors from the first movie will encounter her in a place called 'Scorch'. She described it as a very hot place where one will struggle in order to live. Her character Brenda has thrived in the Scorch since she was fifteen years old. She also introduces the enemies in the film, the Cranks. The Cranks resemble zombies, but more dangerous. They are infected with the 'Flare', transforming them into monsters.

The film is set to be piloted by Wes Ball, with James Dashner and T.S. Nowlin as writers. Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Lee Stollman are the film producers.

Director Ball spoke his thoughts about the upcoming film in Empire OnlineHe said that the heroes will be immersed into the tough reality of the outside world, after being able to survive from the peril of the maze.

According to Ball, the Scorch is ravaged by the sun that things are "kind of burned". He also added that very unfriendly people as well as creatures are waiting for the heroes. The film will also integrate a new environment, new threats, and new look, in addition to the characters the fans have loved in the first film.

"The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is slated to be released in theaters on Sept.18.
