The Discovery Channel revealed its plans last week to air a documentary anthology about China that would be launched this coming Saturday, March 28, amid the growing global curiosity about the Middle Kingdom.
The internationally acclaimed channel known for its diverse cultural and historical content had finally taken notice of the world's increasing curiosity and hopes to learn more about the historical background and rich culture of China.
As many other TV shows and content providers do the same, Discovery Channel sets out on a quest to explain as best as it could the inner workings of the country through its first documentary "How China Works," which will be kicking off on March 28, during Discovery's "China Hour."
"We want these programs to have true market value. It's presented in a way that appeal to audiences worldwide and meanwhile is able to introduce to them the various aspects of China's development," Discovery China general manager Fang Chang explained.
The three-episode series, which is expected to reach about 90 million viewers in 37 countries and regions all over the world, would also be available in Europe, Latin America and Africa by May 2015.
Architect Danny Forster, who made his name by hosting Discovery Channel's hit series "Extreme Engineering," would be hosting the show.
According to insiders, Foster would be visiting different sectors and faces of China, from the most ambitious projects and ordinary people's day-to-day living in order to gain insights as to how China reached urbanization.
He would also be showcasing the country's technological innovations as well as its people's aspirations and vision while featuring some of China's most treasured developments.
