People who are dealing with obesity tend to experience breathing problems and joint pains, but a new study revealed that weight loss surgery can be extremely beneficial for joint replacement surgeries and also asthma.

According to a report from Apex BeatsDr. Emily Dodwell, main author of this new report, has said that for patients who are dealing with obesity, getting a weight loss surgery before a joint surgery is really very advantageous and reduced a great amount of recovery time. This report was published in American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, at the annual meeting of top grade surgeons from all around the world.

The study was carried out at the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York City. The patients at the hospital were divided into two groups, the first group of patients underwent a joint replacement surgery without getting a weight loss surgery prior to it and the second group followed the study and underwent a joint replacement surgery after a successful surgery for weight loss.

In a very startling discovery, the doctors and researchers found out that the second group of patients showed real quick signs of recovery, even after going through two surgeries back to back. This helped the authors of the reports to prove their theory. The recovery time for the participants of the second group was drastically reduced, as compared to the first group.

Hence, weight loss surgery is now given more importance because it has defeated the earlier belief that a weight loss surgery can only relieve a patient from his obesity issues.
