Google is actively competing against Microsoft's newest launch, the cheaper Surface 3 tablet by launching their own Asus Chromebook Flip. The company has also announced Chromebit, a dongle that turns any television into a smart computer.
In an attempt to push their Chrome operating system to consumers, Google is going to launch a slew of devices manufactured by Dell, HP, Lenovo and LG. The company has also launched the 11-inch Haier and Hisense Chromebook which is available for purchase from major retailers.
The Asus Chromebook Flip is a product that directly competes with Microsoft's Surface 3. It is cheap, comes with a keyboard attached to it for maximum productivity and priced really low, at just $249.
Combined with a touch screen and full keyboard, the developers believe it will be a great device for entertainment, education as well as productivity besides being a budget friendly device. When compared to Surface 3, the Asus product is a great buy for its price but it do lacks a full Windows 10 operating system and storage device.
Google also announced the new Chromebit HDMI dongle manufactured by Asus. The tiny device has the power packed in it to turn a HDTV into a full computer within minutes, reports Android Authority.
The Chromebit is powered by an ARM Cortex A17 processor, has 2 GB of RAM and a Mali 760 GPU to support 3D games. It also has 16 GB of storage space besides an USB port to connect external devices. The tiny device supports Wifi AC connectivity and has Bluetooth 4.0.
Google revealed that the Chromebit will be available for purchase this summer for $100 and the device will come in orange, blue and silver colored variants, according to Gizmodo.
