"The Originals" Season 2 is back from its lengthy break with episode 17 titled "Exquisite Corpse." The latest episode of the CW TV series centers on saving Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) in the witch body of Eva Sinclair (Maisie Richardson-Sellers).
Rebekah Mikaelson has lost control of the witch body she currently inhabits. Its rightful owner, Eva Sinclair, wakes up and regains control.
Eva attacks Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and tries to harm baby Hope. Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) protect their daughter from Eva, who is known for channeling the power of young witches.
Klaus wants Marcel to find Eva. Then, Klaus asks Hayley to make Elijah (Daniel Gillies) use his charms on elderly witch Josephine (Meg Foster) to call off the witch hunt on Eva Sinclair.
Hayley finds out about Elijah's relationship with Gia (Nishi Munshi) at Josephine's mansion. At the Mikaelson compound, Klaus asks Freya to do the spell that can bring Rebekah back to her Original body.
Freya tells Klaus that she needs a spell that can enter Eva's mind in order to find Rebekah. Klaus responds there is someone who can help with the spell that she needs.
Marcel asks Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) to help him find Eva Sinclair because he is the only person who knows her inside out. Marcel, Elijah, Hayley and Gia find out that Eva uses the children's power as source of her magic so she could create a new witch order that is more powerful than the elder witches and the Harvest girls in New Orleans.
Josephine declares there is now a bounty on Eva Sinclair's head. Elijah becomes upset because the hunt for Eva means Rebekah's life is in danger.
Klaus takes Freya to the cemetery to meet their mother, Esther (Sonja Sohn). Klaus compels his mother to answer him truthfully as he and Freya inquire about the spell that can be used to enter Eva Sinclair's mind.
Marcel and Vincent track down Eva Sinclair. Marcel's desire to take down Eva intensifies after finding out that she has been channeling Davina Claire's (Danielle Campbell) magic. Vincent interferes and tells Marcel that he wants to talk to Eva.
When Elijah threatened the vampire-witch alliance, Josephine warns that he will need the witches soon. Josephine further warns through Hayley that there is a storm coming. "There is a blackness that should terrify you," Josephine tells Hayley.
Vincent learns during his conversation with Eva that the young witches she took are still alive. As for Esther, the former witch finds out that her sister Dahlia is on her way to New Orleans to take Klaus' daughter.
Meanwhile, Eva tells Vincent that she needs one more witch to complete the ritual and then the young witches can go home. Vincent agrees to help Eva so he attacks Marcel. Hayley, Marcel and Elijah think Eva will come back for baby Hope but it is revealed that Eva's next target is Josephine.
Esther writes down the spell that Klaus and Freya need to save Rebekah. However, Esther warns Klaus that teaming up with Freya could come with a price.
Eva takes Vincent to the place where she keeps the witches that she took. Vincent hits Eva on the head and then calls Marcel to tell him about Eva's hiding place.
Vincent explains to Marcel that his act had to look convincing so that Eva would trust him. Vincent tells Marcel that Davina is still alive but the Harvest Girl and the other young witches are all linked to Eva Sinclair so if she dies, they will all die.
Freya explains that she needs an anchor because she does not have enough power to do the spell. Esther warns Klaus that allowing Freya to channel his power will give her access to his mind where past and present secrets are kept.
Elijah, who is determined to save Rebekah, agrees to be Freya's anchor when Klaus refused. Freya performs the spell that allows Marcel and Vincent enter Eva's mind.
Eva Sinclair attacks Marcel after he found out where young Rebekah is hidden. Vincent arrives in time to stop Eva from killing Marcel. However, Freya starts to lose her hold on Vincent too when Eva attacked him.
Klaus arrives and finally allows Freya to anchor him even though Esther told him that Freya will poison everyone against him. Young Rebekah shows up and stabs Eva on her back before she could kill Vincent.
Marcel, Vincent and Rebekah wake up as well as the other witches that Eva Sinclair took. Rebekah tells Klaus that she plans to stay in Eva Sinclair's witch body because the young witches are still linked to her and she wants to bring their brother Kol back.
Josephine welcomes Freya in New Orleans. Klaus tells Freya that he can still see her for who she really is even though she has worked her way to the good graces of Elijah, Rebekah and the witches.
Freya sees her mother again to tell her about her plan of turning the members of the Mikaelson family against Klaus. "Why are you telling me this?" Esther asks.
"Because you won't be around to see it," Freya responds before killing Esther. "The Originals" Season 2 will return with episode 18 titled "Night Has A Thousand Eyes" on April 13, Monday night at 8/7c on the CW Network.
