"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is expected to have a better opening on May 1 in 3D and Imax 3D than that of "The Avengers," which debuted to $207.4 million on May 4, 2012.
If the new superhero cluster movie by Disney and Marvel earns more than $207.4, it will become the highest opening ever.
While advance ticket sales began in March, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" will open in previews on April 30, Thursday, at 7 p.m. A Fandango spokesperson told Deadline that the sequel is "significantly outselling" the 2012 film "The Avengers" and theaters around the United States are sold out so managers have to add show times to meet the demand.
Directed by Joss Whedon, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" stars Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Claudia Kim as Dr. Helen Cho, among others.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the writers of "Captain America 2," have signed on to write the first and second parts of "Avengers: Infinity War," which are "Avengers 3" and "Avengers 4," according to Den Of Geek.
Markus and McFeely wrote "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Captain America: Civil War."
"Avengers: Infinity War" part 1 will be released in 2018 while part 2 will be in 2019. Both "Avengers 3" and "Avengers 4" will be directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo.
