Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's megahit "Uptown Funk!" proved "too hot (hot damn)" as it climbed into 14 weeks on Hot 100 number 1, rubbing shoulders with Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together", Elton John's "Something About The Way You Look Tonight" and Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" among others, Inquisitr reportsed. Should it stay at the spot for two weeks more, it will tie with Mariah Carey and Boys II Men's "One Sweet Day" at 16 weeks. One week more and it'll rewrite Hot 100's history.

"One Sweet Day" holds the title to most weeks at No 1, earning Mariah Carey the incumbent of the throne.

Songs on the roster of 14-weeks chart-topper excluding the three mentioned above, include Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", Los Del Rio's "Macarena" and Boys II Men's "I'll Make Love To You", according to Billboard.

On it's heel on the current listing is Maroon Five's "Sugar", slowly gaining momentum, peaking at No. 2 in 12 weeks. "Sugar" is Maroon Five's third single from their fifth studio album V.

"Uptown Funk" also dominated the Digital Songs chart, sharing it with 2007's hit "Low" by Flo Rida. The brassy, upbeat jam also tyrannizes on the Streaming Songs category, currently on its 12th week.

This is the first song for Mark Ronson to top both United States and United Kingdom charts. Ronson told Time, "What we do is essentially dance music with live instruments, which really doesn't happen anymore. It's become a dying art."

Ronson, having released 3 albums before "Uptown Funk", first worked as a turntablist. He has helmed songs for Grammy-winning artists like Adele and the late Amy Winehouse.

"Uptown Funk" is Ronson's fourth collaboration with "Gorilla" singer Bruno Mars, who provided guest vocals for the song.
