Huawei recently unveiled its new P8 flagship phone and the P8max to battle with other giants in the smartphone industry, and they might actually have a chance to win.
The Chinese tech company took more than an hour and a half explaining the specs and features of the new Huawei P8 in London on Wednesday.
Huawei P8 has a 1080p display sized at 5.2 inches, a HiSilicon Kirin 930 octacore processor with four 2GHz Cortex-A53s and four 1.5GHz Cortex-A53s, coupled with an impressive 3GB of RAM. In terms of storage, customers can choose between a 16GB and a 64GB model, while both have a microSD slot for expansion. The new flagship phone is powered by a 2680 mAh battery.
For hardcore mobile gamers, Huawei chose to install the Mali-T628 MP4 GPU. The smartphone also has two LTE SIM card slots.
Meanwhile, the new Huawei P8max boasts a massive 6.8-inch screen, a stunning 4360 mAh battery and 32GB of internal storage space. The rest of the specs are the same as the Huawei P8, according to PC World.
Huawei mostly talked about the smartphones' new camera, which they claim is far more superior to the Apple iPhone 6. The P8's rear camera has a 13MP RGBW sensor with OIS stabilization and an aperture of f/2.0. The Chinese company did not disclose who manufactured the new sensor, which is better at low-light situations, but some are saying that Sony did. Even the front 8MP camera's BSI sensor is believed to have been made by Sony.
The Huawei P8 runs on a modified version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop called the EMUI or Emotion UI. Its new camera app has a built-in "light painting" mode that allows the user to capture long exposure shots, which are perfect for taking photos of lights, water and stars.
Another camera feature is the "beauty" mode, which is aimed at today's generation. The Huawei P8 user will take several photos of the face from different angles. The software then allows the user to tweak eye size, face thinness and even skin tone. Once the settings are set, every selfie then is modified using the mode's presets, according to Ars Technica.
The P8 starts at around $530, while the bigger P8max is at $585. Users who wish to upgrade to a 64GB model will need to add $110. It is now available in 30 countries including China, U.K., and Europe. The Huawei P8 release date for the U.S. market is still unannounced.
