Google has recently announced that it will be shutting down the support of Chrome for Windows XP, by the end of the year 2015. Mark Larson, director of engineering for Chrome, said they will continue to makes updates on a regular basis and also provide security patches for Chrome on Windows XP till it gets pulled in by Google.
Since Windows XP is not a very safe platform keeping in mind the current day scenario, the experts are saying that it is a good step and everyone should now get comfortable with using other platforms which are easily available, states Web Log. Other browsers like Mozilla and Opera are available free of cost for Windows XP, and are also really fast to work with.
Microsoft had called quits for support to Windows XP when it had issued the final security updates for the 2001 operating system. Soon after this security update was made, Microsoft had stopped the security fixes for Internet Explorer for Windows XP on 14 April, 2014, states Computer World. At the time, Internet Explorer was dropped for Chrome, Mozilla and Opera. Mozilla and Opera will continue to work on Windows XP and no news is in for their pulling in yet, the reports states.
If we look at the numbers here which have been complied by Web metrics vendor Net Applications, we can see that almost 18.5 percent of all the PC'S which had Windows ran on Windows XP in the month of March of this year; 34.5 percent of the operating system used by people all across the globe was that of Windows XP in October 2013.
