Curt Almond developed an addiction of purchasing a new pair of Calvin Klein boxers to wear every day. The man became almost bankrupt after spending $3,000 on underwear in one year.

The unusual habit started due to Almond's lover wearing the same pants for three days in a row. Almond says he was "disgusted."

So he started spending at least $60 a week on new "really nice" Calvin Klein boxer shorts. He would throw out each pair after wearing it for just one day.

Almond started wearing the one-day boxers after breaking up with his partner. He says it was a method of "getting over" the person.

After moving back to his mother's home, Almond had some extra money. That is when he started wearing the new daily underwear.

Almond says that he only felt comfortable when he was wearing a brand new pair of boxer shorts. But when he ran out of money he had to buy "budget" underwear, including ones with Christmas jingle balls on them.

He says that "luckily" his mother had never examined his garbage can, since she would have seen all the used undergarments in it. However, when she increased Almond's rent about $150 he started having financial problems.

Within time, Almond realized that he was spending all of his savings on the boxer shorts. So he had to slowly end the "compulsion," according to Metro.

Almond feels that he had an addiction like people who are hooked on alcohol and cigarettes. He even worked side jobs to avoid going bankrupt, according to Mirror.

When Almond realized one day that he only had three pairs of boxers left, he started to question whether his underwear addiction was "weird." For the first time in a year he did something new: he washed his boxers.

Almond soon used reason to realize he was the only person who had worn the boxers. And because he was a hygienic person, the undergarments were "fine."

Almond still treats himself to a crisp new pair of underwear-occasionally.
