Fans who attended the “Star Wars” celebratory event that was held in Anaheim, California this past weekend were gifted with their first sneak peek into the “Rogue One,” the first “Star Wars” anthology movie by Gareth Edwards. Since the organizers were feeling very generous, they also gave the fandom a glimpse of the “Star Wars Rebels” Season 2.

This event, dated from April 16 to 19, is a fan-centered tradition that started in 1999, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Unlike other more famous conventions, this one travels all over the globe. Six have been held in the United States, two in Europe, and one in Japan.

Apart from the video clips, Edwards also revealed a few key details about the series, mentioning that it is actually about a group of rebellious soldiers, one of them will be played by Oscar nominee Felicity Jones, who have stolen some of the Death Star’s plans.

The show’s concept art was revealed, together with a short footage that featured TIE Fighters cruising over the surface of a certain planet with the Death Star looming overhead, according to Animation Magazine.

The production team for “Rogue One” was also revealed, namely, director of photography Greig Fraser of “Zero Dark Thirty,” casting director Jina Jay of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” special effects supervisor Neil Corbould of “Gladiator,” and sound designer Chris Scarabosio of “There Will Be Blood.”

Some of the staff from “The Force Awakens” who have joined “Rogue One” are stunt coordinator Rob Inch of “World War Z,” co-production designers Neil Lamont of “Edge of Tomorrow” and Doug Chiang of “Star Wars Episode I,” co-costume designers Glyn Dillon of “Jupiter Ascending” and Dave Crossman of “Saving Private Ryan,” and creature effects supervisor Neal Scanlan of “Prometheus.”

“Rogue One” will be premiering in cinemas on Dec. 16, 2016.
