Mark Hamill, who portrayed Luke Skywalker in the 1980 film "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back," had some reservations about joining the franchise again. 

But that did not last long, as the actor thought about the terror of geek fans all over the world rallying outside his home should he turn down the planned trilogy sequel, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Los Angeles Times reported.

At a recent "Star Wars" celebration held in Anaheim, the actor said that he did not have a choice, adding that it felt like he was being drafted. By the world.

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas gave Hamill the choice to back out of the franchise. Lucas said he would have simply written out Hamill's character should he had not agreed to do it, Entertain This reported. 

"Star Trek" director J.J. Abrams, who directed the new "Star Wars" movie, premiered the latest trailer of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to a legion of fans on a four-day convention held on Anaheim last week. Hamill's appearance on the event garnered a standing ovation.

On the latest trailer, Hamill is heard on voice-over talking about the force which runs deeply on his family. 

Luke Skywalker's Jedi lineage was the penultimate story arc of "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi". He was battling his way to bring his father, Darth Vader, on the good side.

Appearing on the event was Hamill, alongside new cast members Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega. Veteran cast from previous installations were also present, headed by Carrie Fisher, appearing alongside Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the first movie in the planned "Star Wars" trilogy sequel. It premieres in December.
