A Colorado Springs resident who fired his gun at his faulty Dell XPS 410 computer has been booked for a misdemeanor offense.
According to Arstechinca, the bizarre incident happened on April 20, Monday, around 7 p.m. Lucas Hinch, 37, was fed up with his computer, which had reportedly been having problems for several months, so he decided to put an end to his woes.
Hinch said he took the 2012 model Dell PC, which had been displaying the infamous blue screen of death (BSOD), to the alley behind his residence, which doubles as a herb store. He then proceeded to shoot the PC eight times with his new 9mm Hi-Point pistol.
Reports indicate that Colorado Springs police responded to reports of gunshots from concerned neighbors. When they arrived Hinch reportedly explained everything that happened. However, to his surprise, he was ticketed for discharging his gun within the limits of the city; a misdemeanor offense.
According to Police spokeswoman Catherine Buckley, Hinch told the officers that he had to regrets in shooting his PC. Nonetheless, he said he was ignorant that he had violated the law through his actions.
"It was glorious," Hinch said of his decision to put and end to his troubled PC down by shooting it. "Angels sung on high."
"It was premeditated, oh, definitely," he said, adding that "I made sure there wasn't anything behind it and nothing to ricochet."
Reports indicate that Hinch's handgun has been confiscated. However, officers left the mangled Dell with him. Hinch is been scheduled to appear in court on May 11, where he is expected to be fined.
According to IGN, the late PC ran on a dual-core Intel processor, NVIDIA GEForce 7900GS, and had 2GB of RAM.
