The anti-hero film "Suicide Squad" is to commence its production soon. While its promising cast has begun their script-reading, the villain film still expands its ensemble. Recently, Alex Meraz has joined the impressive cast of the comic book film.

"The Twilight Saga" actor Meraz is now part of David Ayer's "Suicide Squad," as per Variety.

In Bill Condon's "The Twilight saga," Meraz played the role of Paul Lahote, one of the friends of Taylor lautner's Jacob Black. Lahote is a Quileute shape-shifter and the third-in-charge in the Uley pack.

As the impulsive member of the pack, Paul is prone to outbursts that transform him into wolf form. He soon learns to control his temper after he imprinted on Rachel Black.

Aside from his wolf role, Meraz is also known for his roles in television shows such as "The Glades," "Single Ladies," and "New Worlds." His other projects this year are Martin Guigui's "The Bronx Bull" and Alberto Barboza's "Cry Now."

No exact details have been revealed yet on Meraz's role in "Suicide Squad." His role may not be a big one, as per Cinema Blend. It can be a minor role, which may lead into something bigger in the expansion of the DC Cinematic Universe.

Along with Meraz, the film will star Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevigne, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jared Leto.

Other stars include Joel Kinnaman, Adawale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adam beach, Jim Parrack, Scott eastwood, Ike Barinholtz, and Common.

Along with Ayer as the film helmer, Ross Andru, Robert Kanigher, and John Ostrander serve as writers. Bruce Franklin, Andy Horwitz, Geoff Johns, Alex Ott, Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack, Snyder, Richard Suckle, and Colin Wilson are in-charge of the film production, which has officially commened in Toronto, Canada.

"Suicide Squad" is set to hit the big screen on Aug. 5, 2016.
