After its release last Oct. 24, 2014, Universal's "Ouija" grossed an estimated $19 million on its opening weekend, grabbing the first spot in the box office, as per Deadline. Overall, the film has grossed an estimated $100 million worldwide since its release.

The first film has indicated its success with its gross, though it did not receive a lot of positive reviews from critics. Also, the film received a C rating from the members of the general audience.

There are no exact details on the cast and exact plot details for the sequel at this point so fans still have to wait. In addition, it has not officially confirmed yet if film helmer Stiles White will still sit on the director's chair or if Cooke will reprise her role for the film sequel.

The first film "Ouija" follows a group of friends who tried contacting their friend, who has recently died, through an Ouija board. A series of horrifying deaths followed after the incident.

"Ouija" starred Cooke, Ana Coto, Daren Kagasoff, Bianca Santos, Douglas Smith, Shelley Hennig, Sierra Heuermann, Sunny May Allison, and Lin Shaye.

Cooke will be seen in her upcoming film "Katie Says Goodbye" in 2016 while "Insidious" actress Shaye will reprise her role as psychic Elise using her abilities to help a family in "Insidious: Chapter 3," which is set to premiere on June 5.

The film sequel will be produced by Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Stephen Davis, Andrew Form, Bradley Fuller, Brian Goldner, and Michael Kenneth Williams, along with Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard who are on board to pen the script. Flanagan directed and co-wrote with Howard the screenplay for 2013's horror film "Oculus."

"Ouija 2" is slated to premiere in theaters on Oct. 21, 2016.
