The social media network Facebook has launched an Anonymous Login feature that allows users to log into third-party apps without sharing their private information, according to IBN Live.
In addition, the social media company declared a new version of Facebook Login that provides users the option to pick and select what personal information apps receive by unchecking or checking categories one by one.
If users want to share their email address with a third-party app, but not their birth date, they can make that choice without any difficulty. In addition, the new Facebook Login does not permit the app to post to Facebook without consent.
Facebook has also introduced a redesigned App Control Panel. The company said in its blog post that a redesigned App Control Panel is a central place for users to view and handle the apps they use.
Facebook wants to address the concern of people who want to try out certain apps but are unwilling to share any personal information about themselves.
Logging in anonymously will allow users to gain access to the app without worrying that their personal information will be accessed by the third-party app. If users want, they can choose to share any extra information at a later stage.
As of now, the Anonymous Login feature is being tested with a few developers. Also, Facebook is planning to expand the availability of this feature to more developers in the forthcoming months.
While the redesigned App Control Panel will be available in the forthcoming weeks, the new Facebook Login will be rolled out in the upcoming months.
