The New York State's Attorney wants Kate Beckett to run for senator. This brings KB to a crossroads at the end of "Castle" Season 7. Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) supports her decision, and Alexis (Molly Quinn) volunteers to support her campaign efforts.

Will Kate Beckett become a senator in "Castle" Season 8? Stana Katic has yet to give teasers. She did, however, said on Twitter that she is "delighted" to be part of the show's next chapter

For his part, Nathan Fillion already signed his contract even before ABC renewed "Castle" for its eighth season. The new showrunners, Terence Winter and Alexi Hawley, are taking over production leadership. Producer David Amann led "Castle" Season 7; creator Andrew W. Marlowe held the post during the first six seasons.

ABC exec Paul Lee announced the show's renewal to reporters on Tuesday. He also spoke about "Grey's Anatomy," which airs Thursdays on the network.

"I would like to see ["Castle" and "Grey's Anatomy"] run for many, many seasons to come...they have incredibly passionate audiences," Lee was quoted as saying in this Variety report.

Contracts of Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic expired at the end of "Castle" Season 7. Fillion is currently busy with his "Con Man" web series, while Katic is filming a movie in a yet-to-be-disclosed location.
