It appears that there will soon be more Korean-Chinese co-produced films like the 2001 South Korean movie "Musa The Warrior" starring Chinese "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" actress Zhang Ziyi.
Showbiz has gradually eased the tension between South Korea and mainland China as the range of collaboration between the two countries has evolved a lot from talent loans and location to special effects service and investment, according to Variety.
Since "Musa the Warrior," which was the earliest and most common way of Korean-Chinese co-production, there have been several joint productions that followed. Recent co-productions include "Mr. Go," "A Wedding Invitation" and "20 Once Again."
Released in South Korea and China on July 17 and 18, 2013, respectively, "Mr. Go" was the first South Korean movie to be fully shot in 3D. It was written and directed by Kim Yong-hwa based on the 1984 comic "The 7th Team" by Huh Young-man.
Also released in 2013, "A Wedding Invitation" was directed by South Korean filmmaker Oh Ki Hwan starring Chinese actors Eddie Peng and Bai Baihe.
Released on January 8, "20 Once Again" is a Chinese comedy film, which is a remake of the 2014 South Korean film "Miss Granny."
There is yet to be another South Korean-Chinese co-produced film for Zhang. However, she is set to reprise her role in John Woo's "The Crossing 2" with Japanese actors Takeshi Kaneshiro and Masami Nagasawa without South Korean actress Song Kye-Kyo, who was in "The Crossing."
Meanwhile, Zhang was spotted on May 9 in Hong Kong, where she was reportedly preparing for her wedding with rocker fiancé Wang Feng, Ming Pao Daily reported, as cited by Asia One.
