Before heading to his Latin America diplomatic tour, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang stopped over in Ireland on Sunday to meet Irish counterpart Prime Minister Enda Kenny.

According to China Daily, Li and Kenny agreed to augment the bilateral cooperation as well as the transactions in trade, clean energy, education, and other concerns between the two nations.

Li stated that China and Ireland have developed a deep "traditional friendship" and that the two nations' relationship highlights a long-established "mutual understanding and support."

The premier further said that Beijing is set to team up with Dublin to strengthen the two countries' external and internal affair concerns and to further improve China and Ireland's relationship as he indicates greater collaboration in agriculture, biomedicine, information and technology as well as mass exchanges in education, culture and tourism.

The two-way travel of entrepreneurs, students and tourists should be further handled as both of the nations have agreed on a visa waiver deal for diplomatic and service passport holders.

"Beijing is willing to comprehensively promote cooperation with the EU in various areas, so as to inject new vigor into China-EU relations and jointly steer the world economy toward recovery," Li said as he commended the progress of European economy.

The Taoiseach, the term for the Prime Minister of Ireland, said that the Irish government recognizes China's economic growth as they are willing to have a partnership with the Chinese government to maintain high-level contact, increase cooperation in trade, agriculture, finance, clean energy and tourism, as well as to expand personnel exchanges, China Daily reported.

Kenny added that Ireland can help China to be part of the European market.

According to reports, the two prime ministers signed a bilateral cooperation deal on travel facilitation measures and agricultural cooperation after the talk.
