"Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan has won the race against time to complete the 125 hours of court-ordered community service as confirmed by Santa Monica City Attorney Terry White. The 28-year-old star took to Instagram to announce the news.
"Hard work pays off," Lohan wrote. "Thank you to all those that allowed me to volunteer while in nyc."
It was reported earlier this month that Lohan had completed only 10 hours out of 125 hours of community service she was being subjected to in Feburary. Judge Mark Young had ordered the star to complete remaining 115 hours in 16 days or face serious legal consequences.
The judge gave a deadline of May 28 and made it clear that Lohan will face jail time if she fails again to complete the required hours, New York Daily News reported.
On her plea, the judge agreed to let Lohan to complete her community service in New York during the hearing, which led to her marathon of daily visits to daycare centre. The "The Parent Trap" star kept her fans posted during her ordeal by the continuous flow of pictures and selfies taken while at the community center.
Lohan achieved the almost impossible tasks by doing back to back shifts at the daycare center, a women's shelter in East New York and possibly other BCS groups, People reported.
The star was ordered the community service for reckless driving and car crash in 2012 on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. She was ordered originaly to complete 240 hours of service by last November. On further plea, she was given an extension of more time owing to her involvement in a London play, "Speed-the-Plow."
