"Castle" was renewed by ABC for season 8 and showrunner Alexi Hawley is teasing fans with some of the biggest changes in the series' history for the past seven seasons.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hawley said that their intention for changing the plot of "Castle" was borne out of their desire to shake things up a little. He added that they also want to be able to tell dynamic stories that would be appealing to fans.
According to Fashion N Style, one of the biggest changes in the upcoming season may have something to do with Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). In season 7, Kate had to attend a hearing which she thought had something to do with her captain's exam. However, it was later revealed that the hearing was organized by the committee to pinpoint all the times she crossed the line as a detective. The committee even went as far as telling her that she was not qualified to be one.
Now, fans are speculating that Kate may no longer work closely with Rick Castle as a detective. Obviously, she cannot be portrayed as a jobless character, so she could have a career change in season 8.
In other news, cast member Penny Johnson Jerald, who played the role of Captain Victoria Gates, will no longer return next season. With this, fans are also speculating that Kate could take her place at the precinct.
