"Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow will not be directing a "Star Wars" prequel and he has revealed why.
In his interview with MTV, Trevorrow was asked if he was being tapped to direct another big film like "Star Wars," since he will not be directing a sequel for his upcoming film, "Jurassic World." Trevorrow also said that he prefers to make a movie of his own as he want to establish himself as a filmmaker who refines his own masterpiece,.
While Trevorrow will not direct a "Star Wars" film, he feels excited fascinated by the progress of Abrams', Johnson's, and Edward's masterpieces and he wants to see them, as per Cinema Blend. Aside from the dinosaur sequel, the director is known for the romance comedy film "Safely Not Guaranteed," the TV movie "Gary: Under Crisis," and the documentary "Reality Show."
After the events in Richard Marquand's 1993 film "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi," Lucasfilm is doing its best to revive the "Star Wars" franchise in today's modern cinematic universe.
The next stop in the cosmos is "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," which is being directed by J.J. Abrams. "Looper" filmmaker Rian Johnson will be the one to direct the franchise's eighth and nineth episodes.
The "Star Wars" franchise will also be having an anthology film, entitled "Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One," which is being directed by "Godzilla" filmmaker Gareth Edward.
"Fantastic Four" filmmaker Josh Trank was also tapped to direct the second anthology of the franchise, but he dropped it as he did not want to take another big franchise.
For now, fans will be seeing Trevorrow's upcoming "Jurassic World," which stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, Brian Tee, Judy Greer, Vincent D'Onofrio, and BD Wong.
Directed by Trevorrow, "Jurassic World" is slated to hit the big screen on June 12. Watch Trevorrow's interview here:
