"Fifty Shades of Grey" screenwriter Kelly Marcel recently confirmed that she has not seen the movie that was released early this year.
In a recent interview on Brett Easton Ellis' podcast, Marcel said that she did not watch the film that she wrote because she has conflicting thoughts about it.
According to her, a lot of the events that happened in the movie broke her heart. She also revealed that she and book author E.L. James went back and forth on which parts they should keep and which parts they should just let go of.
Marcel said that James was the type of author that urged to fight for the scenes she wanted to be shown for the big screen. Towards the end, the two women came up with a compromise and thus came "Fifty Shades of Grey" that earned $500 million worldwide, Variety reported.
Meanwhile, Marcel kept mum about the alleged issues involving "Fifty Shades of Grey" director Sam-Taylor Johnson and James.
According to previous reports, Taylor-Johnson bowed out from directing "Fifty Shades Darker" because of her constant conflicts with James. However, Marcel's recent statement may have just clarified that James was merely passionate about her work.
In other news, James' husband Niall Leonard, will be writing the screenplay for "Fifty Shades Darker." It was previously revealed that Leonard also contributed in "Fifty Shades of Grey," but he was not credited for it.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated for release in the United States in February 2017. "Fifty Shades Freed" will be released in February 2018.
