"Thor" star Chris Hemsworth is joining the cast of Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters" as the receptionist.

The news is confirmed by Feig, who took to Twitter to announce the addition of Hemswoth in the team for the hit movie's reboot, which already casted Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in its cast.

"Our receptionist. #whoyougonnacall," tweeted the director along with a smoldering pic of the 31-year-old actor. Hemsworth will be reprising the role played by the iconic actress, Annie Potts.

Since Feig's announcement of the all-female cast for the reboot of 1984 action comedy, which was about three jobless professors who team up to form a ghost removal service, the online commentators were speculating whether the role of receptionist will be gender reversed or not.

Meanwhile, multiple sources reported that the Australian actor was approached by the studio for a similar role at the start of the project. Since the role was not a significant one, he turned it down.

Feig, along with co-writer Katie Dippold, has reworked on the role and juiced it up before presenting it again in front of the "Snow White" star, who soon gave his approval, The Guardian reported. Production of the movie is going to start soon, which is slated for July 22, 2016, release date.

Meanwhile, the 52-year-old director is hopeful for the success of the movie. During a recent interview, the director exclaimed that he is casting four of the funniest women of Hollywood, along with the best team from his other movies and great special effects team, Us Weekly reported.

However, it appears that Feig was not excited about the project earlier as he was against making a reboot of the hit movie. As a matter of fact, he has declined the offer of directing "Ghostbuster3" several times before realizing that the female adaptation of the movie will be a challenging offer.
