The upcoming "Gambit" film has found the one who will sit on the director's chair, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" director Rupert Wyatt.
Known for drama thriller movies, such as "The Escapist" in 2008 and "The Gambler" in 2014, which give him an upper hand, Wyatt is set to spearhead the Cajun mutant movie, as per Entertainment Weekly.
According to Cinema Blend, Bennett Miller and Darren Aronofsky were initially tapped to direct the solo film of the card-throwing mutant but they declined.
Miller is known for directing the biography drama "Moneyball," biopic "Foxcatcher," and crime drama "Capote" while Aronofsy is best recognized for the drama film "Requiem for a Dream," romance sc-fi "The Fountain," and drama thriller "Black Swan."
Created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee in 1990, Gambit is known for his expertise in card-throwing and his ability to form and manipulate kinetic energy.
"Gambit" stars Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau, the alter ego of the titular superhero. Tatum will be the successor of "True Detective" actor Taylor Kitsch, who played the superhero in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." At the moment, there is no official announcement on Tatum's co-stars and the film plot.
The upcoming "Gambit" film will be produced by Reid Carolin, Simon Kinberg, and Lauren Shuler Donner. With Wyatt set to direct the film, Joshua Zetumer and Claremont are on board to pen the screenplay.
Wyatt's "Gambit" is slated to premiere in theaters on Oct. 7, 2016. It will follow Tim Miller's "Deapool," which will hit the big screen on Feb. 12, 2016 and Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse," which will premiere on May 27, 2016.
