Sony has come a long way with its virtual reality gaming headset touted as Project Morpheus andit puts virtual reality gaming on the map.

The previous fears associated with using a virtual reality headset appears to have been dealt with. In addition, instead of just standing around doing nothing while one's eyes see virtual realities, it appears that Sony is trying to give more texture to how virtual reality gaming works, Wired reported.

In one prototype testing, a player can actually hold a gun in real life and see that same gun in the virtual world. What this means, for the future of VR gaming, is that first-person shooter games are now possible.

Even with all the new and innovative offerings that Sony's Project Morpheus will deliver, it may still be a far-off dream inside consumer homes. The Project Morpheus will only be available at E3 2015 select individuals. For now, it appears that pricing may not be as inviting to every player as of now.

"We need to convince PS4 owners to spend several hundred dollars to purchase a Morpheus headset, on top of the PS4 they already have," said Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida.

Pricing has never been the main point of Sony's VR headset. If anything, the first thing that Sony wanted to make sure of was to ensure that the hardware was right for when the first time consumers are able to test the device, Polygon reported.

To do this, the company's goal is to roll out more games where they can make use of the headset. Currently, there are already over 30 games that are being developed for the device, though the release date are still indefinite and definitely not on Project Morpheus' launch date timeline.

What is good about the games is the diversity. While gaming has its specific genres, those that are aiming to tap into VR category have their own nuances, bringing a wider array of categories. As far as game development goes, a plus for the Project Morpheus is its PC-like hardware, which will make it easier for gaming developers to create ports that can be used on the PS4 and the Project Morpheus.
