Detroit rapper Eminem is set executive produce a new Paramount TV drama series titled "Motor City," which is inspired by "Narc," the 2002 film directed by Joe Carnahan starring Ray Liotta and Jason Patric.

Aside from executive producing "Motor City," Eminem is in talks with Paramount TV to serve as the music supervisor of the drama series. As the music supervisor, the Detroit rapper will be writing some original songs for the show, according to Deadline.

Like in the film "Narc" starring Liotta and Patric as Detroit police detectives investigating the murder of an undercover cop, "Motor City" is a crime thriller and the city will have a major presence on the drama series.

Joining Eminem as executive producer of "Motor City" is Carnahan, who is also set to direct the drama series.  The director has already written a pilot script. Paramount TV put the project in development almost a year ago.

Eminem was supposed to play Billy Hope in "Southpaw" opposite Rachel McAdams but he turned it down. The role was eventually given to Jake Gyllenhaal who was spotted in London, England on June 16 with a brunette named Anna Liban, Just Jared reported.

In London, Gyllenhaal had dinner with Liban before going back to his hotel alone. Before leaving the restaurant separately, the two were seen displaying some PDA.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Kurt Sutter, "Southpaw" also stars Naomie Harris, Rita Ora, Forest Whitaker, Beau Knapp, Victor Ortiz, Clare Foley, Dominic Colon, Skylan Brooks, and Eminem's protégé 50 Cent, among others.
