The cast and creative force behind the superhero adventure flick "Ant-Man" came in full force at the premiere event held at the Dolby Theater, Los Angeles. Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and other stars, along with comic book legend Stan Lee, graced the occasion.

Live streaming of the world premiere enabled fans to watch the stars as they hit the red carpet, Entertainment Weekly reported. Lee's presence was a welcome surprise, as he was not feeling well and was brought to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center the day before. The 92-year-old media mogul gamely posed for photographers and conversed with the action-adventure flick's stars.

"Ant-Man" stars Rudd as Scott Lang, an electrical engineer and single parent who steals the "Ant-Man" suit to rescue his daughter. The actor expressed in interviews that he was extremely pleased to get the opportunity to play a relatable character.

Rudd will reprise his "Ant-Man" role in "Captain America: Civil War" which has a May 2016 release date. The 46-year-old actor's film credits include "Clueless," "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues," and "They Came Together," among many others.

On the other hand, Douglas plays Dr. Hank Pym, the biochemist who created a cybernetic helmet and costume. As the original Ant-Man, Dr. Pym used a reducing formula to shrink himself and overpower assailants.

The other-half of Catherine Zeta-Jones, who is known for his "Behind the Candelabra" and "And So It Goes" roles, noted that his "Ant-Man" role is a departure from the usual characters he has played in the past. He easily warmed up to the idea of being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially after watching "Guardians of the Galaxy" which offered adventure and comic relief, according to Marvel.

Lilly plays Hope van Dyne with Corey Stoll as the supervillain Darren Cross in "Ant-Man," which also stars Hayley Atwell, Bobby Cannavale and John Slattery, among others. The superhero film opens in theaters in the United Kingdom and the United States on July 17.
