Social networking giant Facebook recently announced that it is testing a new feature that will allow users to float videos while users are scrolling down on their news feed.
According to Engadget, the new feature is currently available on the desktop version of Facebook. The new feature can be activated by clicking a new button located on the bottom-right of all embedded videos. Upon clicking the new button, the video being played will be moved over to the side and will continue to float while the user is scrolling through their feed.
Additionally, while the video is floating on the users' Facebook page, it can be dragged and relocated into any location within the webpage. However, the video only stays floated while users are scrolling through their News Feed, the floating video disappear once users chooses to open a different Facebook page.
A Facebook spokesperson told the Huffington Post, "We've heard from some people that they'd like to watch videos while they scroll through News Feed. We're running a small test where you can create a smaller floating screen which continues playing the video while you scroll your News Feed."
The new video feature from Facebook is only available on the desktop version and since it was released as a test there is a possibility that the feature will not be permanently released. Facebook will decide whether to permanently incorporate the new video feature depending on the result of the test phase.
In addition to the new video feature, Facebook also announced that it will soon offer a feature that will enable users to track people that unfriended them.
