A recently discovered Federal Communications Commission filing suggests that Motorola is waiting for approval for a new smartphone device. The device with FCC ID IHDT56UC2 is rumored to be the highly anticipated Motorola smartphone with codename Kinzie or the second-generation Droid Turbo.
Prior to the discovery, there are rumors circulating about a new Motorola phone with a 5.5-inch QHD display which is significantly bigger than the 5.2-inch display of the current-gen Droid Turbo.
According to Tech Times, the FCC filing shows that the mystery Motorola phone supports GSM bands 2, 4 and 5 which means that it should be able to work fine with the T-Mobile and AT&T network. It should also support all LTE bands with the exception of Verizon's network as it creates confusion since some of its LTE network are running on Sprint bands.
Based on the FCC filing, the upcoming Motorola device will have a 153.6mm x 75.3mm dimensions with a diagonal length of 161.8 mm. This measurement suggests that the mystery phone is a bigger than the current-gen Droid Turbo.
A leaked benchmark test reported in June showed that the Kinzie smartphone has a 5.5-inch display with a native resolution of 2560 x 1440. The phone will be powered by an octa-core 1.9 GHz Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm with 3GB of internal memory as well as 32GB of local storage space. The Kinzie has a 20-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel camera.
A separate assessment reported by Droid Life suggests that the phone will sport either the Snapdragon 808 or Snapdragon 810 chipset. The assessment was based on Qualcomm's recent introduction of the carrier aggregation for its Snapdragon 800 series of chipsets.
