"Ant-Man" star Paul Rudd recently talked about his previous film and TV roles before playing Scott Lang, the Marvel Comics superhero character created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby.
In a recent interview with People, Rudd talked about the film "The Object Of My Affection," in which he co-starred with his former "Friends" co-star Jennifer Aniston, and the film "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," in which he starred with Steve Carell.
According to Rudd, Aniston is someone that he had known for years before the hit sitcom "Friends" and in 1998, the two co-starred in "The Object Of My Affection." The "Ant-Man" star said, "We had a conversation, like, 'Could you imagine at 21 you and I in a movie together playing these lead parts?'"
In 2005, Rudd starred in film "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" with Carell, who played the title role, Leslie Mann, Jane Lynch, Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen, among others.
"I was wearing a T-shirt with myself on it," Rudd said when asked if his "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" character was as nerdy as Carell's. "I don't know why that doesn't sound dorky to me. I don't really think of myself as that dorky. I mean, I have moments, and I take pride in those."
While "Ant-Man" is currently in theaters, Rudd is filming the TV series "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp." He is also reprising his "Ant-Man" role in the 2016 film "Captain America: Civil War."
On its debut on July 17, "Ant-Man" earned $22.6 million making it the second-lowest opening Friday for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the lowest being "The Incredible Hulk," which earned $21.4 million during its debut in 2008, according to Forbes.
