According to their prenuptial agreement, Lambert will keep the Nashville property while Shelton will get the Oklahoma Ranch. However, the ex-couple is still discussing the division of their pets.

Reportedly, the reason for the divorce was the couples' frequent separation. The distance between the two started growing since they were rarely together. However, rumors suggest that the cause of the divorce might have been infidelity. According to New York Daily News, there are speculations that Lambert had cheated on Shelton in a long-term affair. On the other side, Shelton reportedly never cheated on his ex-wife.

In order to keep the matter a secret, the divorce files only included Shelton and Lambert's initials, and they were filed under the name of Shelton's attorney Virginia Henson. The case was classified under the "Family and Domestics Proceedings" category in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. The case judge was district Judge John G. Canavan of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Rumor has it that both Shelton and Lambert are devastated by the divorce as Lambert was seen crying at a concert in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  According to US Magazine, a source close to the couple stated that Blake was broken hearted as well, even though it seems the opposite because of his career announcements on Twitter.

Speculations also indicated that Lambert decided to postpone her concert in Canada following the divorce initiation. The concert, which was set on July 9, was canceled immediately after her husband filed for the divorce. She claimed she had canceled the concert because of illness, but the short time connection between the concert and the divorce filing suggested that the singer was trying to mend her broken heart. Lambert canceled the show on July 8 while the divorce was filed on July 6.

The couple met in 2005 during CMT's "100 Greatest Duets" concert. At the time, Shelton was still married to his first wife Kaynette Williams. Shelton's first divorce wasn't finalized until he and Lambert officially started dating. The couple got married in 2011, making it a four-year marriage before they finally separated.
