WWE cuts its links with former wrestling megastar, Hulk Hogan, after reports that he made racially charged comments in a 2012 sex tape.

The recording is the main cause of Hulk Hogan's possible precedent-setting a $100 million lawsuit in Florida arguing that Gawker.com went against his privacy when it unveiled a story concerning, and a video from, the recording - eventually taken down, Deadline reported.

Hogan is no longer a judge on the USA's WWE Touch Enough, and the reality series' subsequent episode on Tuesday will have a replacement judge in his place.

Meanwhile, the former wrestling superstar has apologized after leaving WWE. The departure happened in the wake of the company looking at a clip of a recording in which Hogan uses the N-word to refer to a man who was dating his daughter, CBC News revealed.

In his apology, Hulk Hogan said, "This is not who I am. I acknowledge very strongly that every individual in the world is significant and should not be discriminated based on race, gender, disposition, religion, or any other form of segregation."

WWE said in a statement on July 24 that it had ended its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan).

"Our company is dedicated to acknowledging and respecting people from all backgrounds as seen in the diversity of our employees, performers and fans globally," the statement read.

In a statement given to TMZ and People, Hogan's lawyer said that his client was not dismissed but voluntarily resigned on the night of Thursday, July 23.

Before WWE gave its report, Hogan had already disappeared from the company's website. The wrestler's profile page currently reads that users are not authorized to access the page.
