Tech giant Google announced that it will remove all interstitial ads on its mobile app platform. Interstitial ads usually pops up in order to promote the website of the native app.

The search giant said that the decision to remove interstitial ads was made after an extensive study proved that mobile users of Google+ are not happy or do not welcome annoying full-page ads that directs them to download the Google+ app.

Google delve deeper into the issue and found out that interstitial ads results to users pressing the Get App button nine percent of the time. Additionally, users that ignore or abandon the page without opening the app store or even continue to the Google+ happens 69 percent of the time.

According to PC World, Google made a follow up study and experiment by removing the interstitial ad and replace it by a less-intrusive banner type of ad. The new strategy was a success and shows that active users on the company's mobile platform increased by as much as 17 percent while native Google+ app installs remained almost unchanged.

Google+ software engineer David Morell posted the experiment's findings on a blog post saying, "We believe that the increase in users on our product makes this a net positive change, and we are sharing this with the hope that you will reconsider the use of promotional interstitials."

Google believe that by setting the example of removing the interstitial ads, many company as well as app developers will follow it and ultimately provide users with ad free mobile browsing experience.
