With Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond" coming to the big screen next year, "Fast and Furious 6" actor Joe Taslim has been added to the growing entourage of cast, while "Street Dance 2" actress Sofia Boutella's character has been rumored to brew a romance with Chris Pine's Captain Kirk.
Taslim will star alongside Idris Elba and Boutella as newcomers in Lin's upcoming film installment. The role of the Indonesian actor is still unknown at this point, but it will be in contrary to Idris Elba's villainous role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Aside from Justin Lin's "Fast and Furious ," the Indonesian actor is also known for his roles in films, such as Steven Shell's action-horror film "Dead Mine," Gareth Evans' action-thriller "The Raid: Redemption," and Danial Rifky's drama film "La tahzan."
The Indonesian actor knows various forms of martial arts, including Silat and Judo, so it is assumed that his combat skills will be seen in Lin's upcoming film.
Meanwhile, newcomer Boutella is rumored to play major female roles in Lin's "Star Trek Beyond," such as a competing Starfleet captain, who may develop a romantic relationship with Pine's Captain Kirk, According to Cinema Blend.
The actress is known for her roles in Matthew Vaughn's action-adventure film "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and in Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini's romance-drama film "Street Dance 2."
Along with Taslim, Elda, Boutella, and Pine, "Star Trek Beyond" also stars Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Joseph Gatt, Zachary Quinto, and John Cho, among others.
"Star Trek Beyond" is set to hit theaters in the United States on July 8, 2016 and it will be followed by "Star Trek 4" in 2019.
