When they started filming "Sense8," Straczynski shared that he had a hunch that the show will last for years. It was said that the writers already have a vision on what will happen to all of the characters until season 5. He believed that viewers would definitely want to see more after the season 1 finale.

The Netflix series may have received strong following given its original plot and interesting characters, however, some speculate that the show may have been ahead of its time. News Everyday reported that some viewers found the story too complicated and difficult to understand. They pointed out that even for a sci-fi series the plot can be too unbelievable at times.

In spite of the mixed reviews, the cast members and show runners believed in the show's premise. Straczynski said that he was proud of the concept behind "Sense8." He pointed out that the show was able to discuss pertinent issues, such as gender bias, which is not always seen on television. He also called for the fans of the show to not lose faith, adding that a renewal is definitely on the horizon.
