"The Notebook" star Rachel McAdams is likely to play the female lead role in Marvel's upcoming "Doctor Strange," opposite Benedict Cumberbatch.
The 36-year-old actress was speaking with Los Angeles Times when she teased her fans about her possible lead role in the adventure fantasy.
"I don't have much to say about it right now. There's not really anything to comment on. But, if there is, I'll let you know," McAdams said when quizzed about the rumors that she will be seen in the upcoming Marvel movie. The actress is currently seen on HBO Sundays in "True Detective" as well as in her recently released movie "Southpaw."
Although it is not yet official, McAdams is most likely to play the role of Clea, the female magician who has romantic feelings for Dr. Stephen Strange. Clea is a comic book character who possesses vast magical powers, including the ability to conjure objects and energies, teleportation, telekinesis and many more.
"Doctor Strange" is set to hit the theatres on Oct. 28, 2016. The plot of the movie is based on a brilliant but arrogant surgeon, who will be played by the 39-year-old "Sherlock" actor, as he is trained and guided by the sorcerer, The Ancient One, to defend the world against evil.
The movie is still in the pre-production stage and will also star "Snowpiercer" actress Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor of "12 Years A Slave" fame. Swinton is likely to play the role of The Ancient One in contrast to the original comic book series character, who is a male and of Himalayan descent, Mirror reported.
