Sony Xperia Z3+, the latest of the Xperia Z smartphones series, bears the expected quality, with more from its camera, speed performance and battery life. But tech fans were disappointed that Sony has not addressed in the Z3+ the overheating issue of the Z3.

Under the hood, Xperia Z3+ runs on octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC and Android 5.0.2, bundled with 32GB memory and 3GB RAM and features a 5.2-inch smart adaptive touchscreen. Its 20.7 megapixel Exmor RS sensor rear camera is lauded by tech fans for its ability to take DSLR-like quality photos, albeit not impressive in low lighting.

Moreover, it features Intelligent Auto, AR effects and Manual mode that lets users tweak and optimize settings. A new feature that Sony added was the "Gourmet" preset, which allows foodies to take "enticing" food shots. Its wide-angle 25mm lens and f/2.0 aperture are best for close-up shots, while its 5 megapixel front camera features f/2.4 aperture and the same lens.

Fast Speed

When it comes to performance, tech fans praised its speed and absence of lags despite simultaneous browsing and use of apps. As for internet speed, Z3+ registered 202 mbps in download speed and 132 mbps in upload in Ookla. Its predecessors' scores were much lower, according to Android Origin.

Good Battery Life

Another above-average feature is the 2,930mAh battery that works up to almost 9 hours, First Post reported. It also has a quick charge feature that fully charges the phone in 45 minutes with a Sony charger, according to Sony specs sheet. Tech enthusiasts who tested it, however, claimed that charging time is about an hour.

Overheating Issues

On the downside, Z3+ still has the overheating issue present in its predecessor. Users noted how the phone heats up while just browsing photos or using the video camera, specially the AR effects. It also tends to overheat when a user streams videos or play heavy games.

Despite the generally positive reviews, Sony Xperia Z3+ disappoints tech fans with its high price of $877.
