"The Mindy Project" season 4 could feature "The Big Bang Theory" star Kunal Nayyar as Mindy Lahiri's (Mindy Kaling) newest love interest.
According to TV Line, Nayyar will guest star on "The Mindy Project" and he could eventually become Mindy's husband. However, as of late, nothing has been finalized yet.
Meanwhile, according to TV Insider, Nayyar will play the role of Sendhil, a hedge fund manager that Mindy's parents think is an ideal man for their daughter. Fans of "The Mindy Project" know that Mindy is madly in love with Danny (Chris Messina). However, Danny's family do not necessarily approve of her.
After the show's cancellation on Fox, Hulu picked up the series for another season and promised to shake things up a little. Some guest stars have also been confirmed for the upcoming season and this will include Garret Dillahunt, Freida Pinto and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
In other news, the onscreen parents of Kaling have also been cast recently. "House of Cards" star Sakina Jaffrey and "Royal Pains" actor Ajay Mehta will play Mindy's mom and dad respectively.
Throughout the past couple of seasons, Mindy's parents have not been featured on the show. However, in season 3, Danny decided to embark on a journey to meet her fiancee's parents and have actually reached their home. Unfortunately, the turnout of that meet up will only be shown in season 4.
"The Mindy Project" also stars Ike Barinholtz as Morgan Tookers, Ed Weeks as Jeremy Reed, Anna Camp as Gwen Grandy, Beth Grant as Beverly and Amanda Setton as Shauna Dicario, among others.
