Although the iPad Air 2 seems to be more competitive, tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 have their enthusiasts, which give the cheaper tablets to compete with the popular Apple iPad Air 2. Here is a contrast between the two tablets that gives Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 an edge over iPad Air 2 when it comes to offering value for money.

Design

The Apple's iPad Air 2 has a premium metal body that gives it a clear advantage over other tablets. In addition to coming in gold, silver, and space gray, the gadget as well has a fingerprint scanner that is absent in other competitor tablets, Ecumenical News revealed.

On the contrary, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has a plastic body but feels exceptional due to the fine luster. Apart from coming in different colors (white, blue, and titanium), the back panel of the tablet has a smooth finish for easy handling.

Display

According to Tech Times, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has a TFT display that measures 9.7 inches and has a screen resolution of 768×1024 pixels, and a density of 132 pixels per inch.

Apple's iPad Air 2 screen measures 9.7 inches, but it is an IPS LCD having a resolution of 1536×2048 pixels. The tablet has a density of 264 pixels per inch.

Specs

The two tablets have the same specs. The iPad Air 2 runs on an Apple A8X chipset and a CPU of three cores clocked at 1.5GHz, whereas the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has a four core clocked CPU at 1.2 GHz.

Memory

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is better when it comes to memory because it has a memory slot that allows expansion of up to 128 GB external storage. The iPad Air 2 has no memory slot.

About the RAM, Apple's iPad Air 2 has 2 GB while the Samsung Galaxy has either 1.5 GB or 2 GB.

Price

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 goes at almost half the price of the iPad Air 2. Galaxy Tab A 9.7 sells at $279 while iPad Air 2 with 16 GB onboard goes at $500.
