There is a strong rumor that the "Games of Thrones" author George R. R. Martin has finished writing the much-awaited "The Winds of Winter" book.

According to a post on Martin's blog Not A Blog, he wrote that, he is off to the hot coast in sometime. This led to speculations that the book is ready since Martin had mentioned previously that he is canceling all public appearances in order to focus solely on the book.

His post "Leavin' On a Jet Plane" ended with the note, "And while I will be travelling, my army on minions will be here at the old homestead, toiling in the paper mines." This led to fresh speculations that the book is at the printing press already and may be released by the year-end.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said that the fans are going to see a big twist on a long-time character. He reportedly said that, "This is going to drive your readers crazy," he teases, "but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist."

He added that the twist is quite organic and integral to the story. Contrary to expectations, the twist is not present for the shock value but it is an important part of the story.

Martin said that he is surprised that he did not think of this twist in the plot previously. He also added that the upcoming twist would not affect the "Games of Thrones" show at all. Martin clarified that the show has already dealt with that particular character in the show.
