"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 is expected to introduce lots of new story arcs as the drama continues. The ABC's long-running medical drama's creator Shonda Rhimes finally dished out on what fans can expect when the show returns this fall. She opened up about Ellen Pompeo's Meredith's future after the death of her husband Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey). She even teased love interests for the estranged couple, Callie and Arizona. Speaking at the 2015 Television Critics Association, Shonda Rhimes explained how Meredith, who is widow with three children now, will embark on a new journey. She promised that Season 12 of "Grey's Anatomy" will set "much lighter tone" in comparison to the previous instalment that saw some major breakups and shocking death of Derek.
"[Meredith] She's living in a house with her sisters, and she's surrounded by single women who are dating and having a whole life and she's not interested in that. Is there a second life here or are the best years of your life behind you?" Rhimes said as quoted by TV Line.
The twelfth season will reportedly see a "rebirth" for all the characters-essentially for Meredith. Meanwhile, speculations about Martin Henderson playing the new love interest for Meredith are already going rampant. But as noted in the report, the "Everest" actor's character won't be introduced until "the middle of the season."
Meanwhile, fans can expect to see some interesting drama revolving around former couple, Callie and Arizona. Rhimes said that the ladies will get involved in "exciting" new romances.
Further, it is reported that "Grey's Anatomy" will feature a three-month time jump when the show returns for its latest season. As for April, she will choose job in Army camp over Jackson.
